1969 Yamaha YS1 engined Yetman Frame

Postby GVH » Tue May 07, 2013 1:41 pm

OK need to sell a 1969 Yamaha YS1 engined Yetman framed racer. Complete basketcase project. Motor is in 2 boxes. I was told rebuilt crank. Last driven in the early 1980s. Comes with the red tail section that was custom made for the frame. I would say 85% - 90% complete. Last pic is a 1969 Yetman YS1 and what it might have looked like.

This was part of a package deal and I just want to CB350. Start it at $500 obo but want it sold. Interested in CB350T or CB500,550,750 parts or projects on trade.

Hope it went to a good home.
For those of you in the teen set - ie, less than 50 years old, Dave Yetman built some of the best frames ever. Had his own ideas on frame design and fabrication and as his website says, never had a frame issue due to manufacturing methods.
He was probably best known for his CB72-77 frames (maybe 300 built?) but he also built a bunch of other frames - TD1, Ducati, a few dragster frames, chopper hardtails as well as the YS1 frame in this sale.
A very talented individual and for this humble writer, a real '60's icon.
Dave is still kicking around as far as I know - was into boating / yachting for awhile as well as a bunch of other stuff and has always had all 8 cylinders firing IMHO.

Pat..yes. I recall; Cycle magazine, often waxing enthusiatic about the yetman chassis...what a difference from the stamped steel junk frame those yamaha twinjet 100's came with ! ..hope we see this little jewel at the track soon;)

Hello everyone:

I have purchased the Yetman and may be looking for a motor to put in the 200 class must be period if you have one or any suggestions please contact me. 200 yamaha twin would work thanks by the way Goeff the guy who sold it to me is great to deal with. Also it has a dunstall 1/4 fairing any clue where to get a windscreen. This should be fun I outweigh the bike by a factor of 2 lol
