Custom front Sprocket

Postby Brian Stevenson » Mon Aug 19, 2024 6:14 pm

I'm looking for a company that can make custom front sprockets to fit a 13 spline Suzuki output shaft.

I need 16 and 17 tooth in 520 but I need a +4mm offset.

I have a 15 tooth that came from Talon with the offset but that's the largest they do as they are made for RGV250's. The Suzuki motor I have was hitting the rev limiter before the first marshal station on the back straight so I think it may bit under geared. :(

Let me know if you find a company. I would also be interested.

Hi Pascal.

I spoke to Talon in the UK but they are not really interested in one off stuff any more. I guess they are too big now. Sprocket Specialists, PBI and Rebel Gears said they can do rears but have yet to get back to me on the fronts

Martin at Mad Biker is a Talon distributor so he's going to approach them to see if they will do something custom for him. They make bespoke sprockets to his design for the Yamaha 350 YPVS

Is this for the T500 sprocket 13 or 6 spline?

sprocket specialists made custom front sprockets for me many years ago, might be worth a try.

You are right, mine would be a 6 spline (T500).

I have 3 variants already (13-14-15) but would like one more on each end (12-16). It'll all depend on the price. I won't spend an insane amount as I don't desperately need them. I am only looking for more gearing combinations for fine tuning.

Rear sprockets are also a custom job unfortunately!

Brian

i tried to remember who exactly but a drag racing shop made some for an old sponsor of mine. you could check on those forums.

I also found this guy when I was looking to see if the internet would jog my memory.

Thanks Chris. I did contact PBI but they were really standoffish. I doth think its worth their while for 2.

I did talk to Team Vintage Suzuki in the UK and they use special hardened spacers. They are going to send me some. I should be able to use stock GPZ sprockets with these

Have you taken a look through the JT sprockets book?
It takes some time, but I'm sure there are many other bikes using the same sprocket spline size and count.
I've used this method to find several custom sprocket offsets etc.

Thanks Kevin.

I did. There are lots with the same spline, its just the offset.

Vintage Suzuki in the UK shipped their spacers/collars that provide a custom offset with just a regular sprocket. I guess I could have had them made as well but they are hardened. Hoping it will be here for Shannonville.

Hi Brian,

I use VVM Racing in the Netherlands.
They will do what you want.
I recently had the do an offset 520 for my CB1100F.

Cheers,

Gary

Thanks Gary.

I actually ended up getting some different collars/spacers from Suzuki Vintage Parts so I'm able to use a stock 520 from a GPZ550. I have a lot of those.

There is a lot of adjustment on the shaft as I guess the original chain is a 630
