I finally saw my trophy from the 2008 season this past weekend.
This trophy has more miles on it than I raced to win it.
Collected at the banquet by the Bruce Team and handed off to the Whittakers.
The relay would then continue with Malcom Lake taking the trophy to Steve Bem.
Steve Bem would then make the break for it across the border to Birmingham Alabama and deliver it to me at Barber Motorsports Park.
This is where the story should end but....
I was racing at Barber so the trophy went in my gearbox for transportation back to Pennsylvania.
The gear however missed the bus so I was stuck trying to find a way to get everything north. Again the racing family came to my rescue.
My gear & tropy should be in Michigan by noon today.
At least that puts it only an hour from my inlaws house.
Now assuming the trophy has taken the most direct routes the trophy will cover 2300 miles (3700 kilometers).
Maybe I will receive it for good around the same time as the 2009 award is handed out.
