After some hot & heavy racing in the first round of the 1st Vintage Road Race National Championships,  at Shannonville Motorsport Park, Ont., at the end of May. The second round at Shubenacadie Nova Scotia last weekend has really bought out some of the top vintage racers in North America to gain the honours of #1 plate in the Canadian Vintage National Series.
Some extremely exciting racing took place at the challenging East Coast course and as a result several of the classes are now in hot contention with only a few points between the leaders.
One of the most determined challenges is taking place between Canadian racer Brian Henderson and veteran American Team Obsolete rider David Roper in the 500 GP class.  David Roper on this H1R Kawasaki was stretched to the limit by Brian on his 450 Honda as they fought the whole race, with David taking the chequered flag and Brian finishing 2nd.
David Roper is also in a great dice for the 250 GP title against long time VRRA racer Stan Nicholson, who riding his lovely little Greeves Silverstone, David pipped  Stan to the post, winning the race, but Stan’s 2nd keeps him in the lead in the Series by just one point.   David was riding a beautifully prepared Ducati loaned to him by David Tatlock after his Velo seized in practice.
Other close races took place in the Supervintage Middleweight Class between East Coast local Jim Pentecost and visitor ‘from Away’ & first time rider at the track, Brian Henderson with Jim taking the win & lead by 3 points in the National Vintage Series.  The 350 GP class saw Erik Green of Team Obsolete and Ken Livingstone of the VRRA dicing it out for the lead.
All this exciting racing comes down the wire on the weekend of August 20th at Mosport Park Ont. As the new owner Panos welcomes the final event in the first Canadian National Vintage Series.
